9/20/2023 0 Comments Life is strange 2 tropes![]() He is a fan of rock and roll music, William Moore being one of them. ![]() During their relationship, Gabe liked the Weed Gummies he often got only 3 hours of sleep a night and was super excited to keep taking them. Eventually, he met Charlotte Harmon and the two would go on to start a relationship with one another. After hitting a dead end on where his father was after reaching the town, Gabe decided to remain in Haven Springs, turning over a new leaf and gaining a new, positive attitude. After being released from juvie a few years later, he began an investigation into his father's whereabouts, leading him to the town of Haven Springs. Gabe could only watch as his sister desperately pleaded with their father not to leave them, only for her attempts to be futile.Īfter his hardships, Gabe would only continue down a downwards spiral and eventually at 17, he was sent to juvie for stealing a car. John, now distraught by what he had done, decides to leave the house and mentions that someone else will come by later to take care of them. The fight soon turned physical and eventually Gabe witnessed his dad unintentionally hit his own sister. Having had enough of his father's excuses he stormed back inside the apartment and told Alex about their dad losing his job and expressed to her how hard it will be for them to make money in order to buy food, which led to John becoming increasingly and visibly upset. ![]() When Gabe was 16, he found out his dad lost his job once again, and angrily confronted him outside the living room. When Gabe was 15 his mother was diagnosed with cancer, and sometime afterwards passed away. Around 4 years later, his parents gave birth to his younger sister, Alex Chen. Gabe Chen was born on December 2nd, 1993 to his mother, Wendy Chen, and his father, John Chen. Gabe wears a black shirt with a ram on it with a black-and-red checkered shirt and a brown jacket. Gabe had shoulder length black hair, an extended goatee, and brown eyes. He is seen by most people as a "big brother" figure and he is very creative in his way of approaching other people even if it takes a taxing amount of effort. We don't get enough female protagonists and that's something that made the first game special.Gabe Chen is described as witty, generally friendly, and approachable. I've had my fill of playing as protective male guardians looking over a younger character. Without the presentation of its peers or the originality of the first game I can't enjoy this ride as I want to. What lets me down the most is that Life is Strange 2 abandoned the unique identity of the series to follow the 'Prestige Game' narrative formula. ![]() Episode 5 was a notable improvement over 3 and 4, but it wasn't enough to redeem the experience for me. The sizeable Time Skip was already pushing the limits of my investment, but there's a twist involving Daniel that utterly demolished any investment I had left. It was Episode 4 where I was completely ripped out of the story. Your choices regarding Daniel never affect his most important actions, and its these actions that make his character problematic. Giving Daniel powers was something I considered daring at first, but now I wish they hadn't. While initially understandable and sympathetic, Daniel increasingly falls prey to the flaws of child characters with each passing episode, becoming petulant to a fault. With its grim themes at the forefront it loses the charm and the relatable high school drama.Īnd unfortunately, there's Daniel. The more the game has the brothers violently attacked by racists, the more it does its message a disservice. There's much more to racism than violence, but the game doesn't explore subtle and institutional racism beyond lip service. It starts off strong enough, promising a gritty and relevant tale that directly comments on the dark heart of America's racist nature in a way few dare to, but the game confronts America's racism with one note, having thuggish police and homicidal rednecks attempt to kill two Hispanic kids For the Evulz. I like that this game chose to tell a new story over continuing the first one, but I can't be as kind to its other choices. The original game captivated in large part due to its colorful cast and relatable high school setting, which gradually unveiled the sinister undertones lurking underneath. Life Is Strange 2 is a strange beast indeed. VideoGame The perils of going Darker and Edgier
